The cuisine of Puerto Rico has its roots in a mixed cooking tradition and practice of Spanish, African, and Tainos Indians (the indigenous people of Puerto Rico).
Our first cuisine option (Tour #1) is a Food Tasting of Puerto Rico as you indulge in an authentic local meal that Puerto Ricans call Comida Criolla (Puerto Rican Cuisine). Our mouthwatering taster’s platter will allow you to savor true Puerto Rican country specialties.
There’s always room for dessert, so cap off your meal with a scrumptious sweet treat and have a Puerto Rican coffee for the perfect ending to a perfect feast. After this meal, you will understand why food and family are so deeply embedded in Puerto Rican culture.
The hospitality of the Puerto Rican people will leave you with a full stomach, and an even fuller heart.
Our second option (Tour#2) is to learn how to prepare a Mofongo experience. Mofongo is a fried plantain-based dish that is an island delicacy. You will learn how to make a chicken Mofongo right at your table! The pina colada was invented in Puerto Rico in the 1960s during this meal you will also make one with or without alcohol!
Our third option is our Spanish cuisine, paella. Enjoy a luscious seafood rice dish, a glass of authentic Spanish sangria, dessert, and a coffee to end this exquisite meal. This option can only be combined with option #2
Old San Juan has uphill uneven streets with cobblestone roads, so to make this walk as easy as possible we have designed this tour to have you in the most shade and take the route with the least incline possible.
Become immersed in 500 years of island history and folklore as you stroll along ancient streets and see breathtaking sites along your stroll the medieval city. Of course, the experience would not be complete without the opportunity to indulge in the unique Puerto Rican cuisine.
Along the way, become one with history as you learn about famous architectural sites such as the Cathedral of San Juan Bautista, Plaza de Armas, Fort of San Cristobal, and Fort San Felipe Del Morro, the oldest Spanish fort in the New World.
Our Food Tasting and Old San Juan Walking Tour ends at the beginning of San Juan’s boutique shops, where you will have a chance to shop and purchase wonderful Puerto Rican souvenirs and gifts. If your choice is to return to your cruise ship our guide will accompany you back to the pier.
